We are seeking a full-time Medical Director (Psychiatrist) to join a leading behavioral health hospital in Washington, DC. This employed leadership role offers competitive executive-level compensation and weekday scheduling, allowing you to oversee inpatient psychiatric services while guiding clinical quality, operational excellence, and strategic growth within a collaborative multidisciplinary environment.

Schedule / Hours: Monday–Friday
Call: As assigned, not mandatory, (leadership coverage model)
Patient Volume: Inpatient behavioral health population (children, adolescents, adults)
Location: Washington, DC
Practice Setting: Acute Inpatient and Partial Hospitalization
Support / Care Team: Multidisciplinary team including psychiatrists, nurses, social workers, counselors, and therapists
EMR / Technology: Comprehensive Cerner electronic medical record system


Responsibilities

• Provide executive leadership and clinical oversight for inpatient psychiatric services
• Supervise attending psychiatrists and clinical staff within the inpatient program
• Oversee admissions, discharges, and ongoing patient care management
• Lead quality improvement initiatives, risk management efforts, and service optimization
• Collaborate with executive leadership on strategic planning and operational alignment
• Participate in medical staff and executive meetings and contribute to program development
• Ensure documentation and compliance standards are met within the EMR


Compensation & Benefits

Salary: $350,000–$400,000 base salary (total compensation range approximately $450,000–$475,000)
Bonus: Performance-based incentive structure
Sign-on / Relocation: Sign-on bonus and relocation assistance available (if applicable)

Qualifications

• MD or DO from an accredited medical school
• Board Certified in Psychiatry
• Licensed or eligible for licensure in Washington, DC
• Minimum five years of inpatient behavioral health experience
• Prior leadership, management, or Medical Director experience required
• Demonstrated expertise in psychiatric operations, quality improvement, and healthcare financial management
